PLEASE SUBSTITUTE FOR ORDINANCE NO. 9-96, <br />PLACED ON 1st READING 6 REFERRED TO <br /> CO~h~4ITTEE OF THE WHOLE ON 3/20/96, <br />AND PLACED ON Znd READING ON 4/1/96. <br /> <br />ORDINANCENO. 9-96 BY: Boscia, Corrigan, Flanner <br /> ~C~)(/~; 5/y~5~)¢~_0 George, Roth, Seelie, Smi <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE fixing the salary of the Mayor of the City of Lakewood <br />effective January 1, 2000. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Article II, Section 5, of the Amended Charter of the City of <br />Lakewood provides, that the salary of the Mayor shall be established by ordinance of <br />Council, provided such ordinance shall be adopted not less than thirty (30) days prior to <br />the final date fixed by law for the filing of nominating petitions by candidates for the Office <br />of Mayor for the term to be effected thereby, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the next regular municipal election at which the people will vote for <br />candidates for the office of Mayor of the City of Lakewood will be held during the month <br />0fNovember, 1999, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood provides that no <br />salary increase or decrease shall take effect with respect to the Office of Mayor during the <br />term for which he or she is elected, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council determines that it is in the best interests of the City that <br />the salary of the Mayor be increased from its present amount; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br /> Section 1. That commencing January I, 2000, the salary of the Mayor of the City <br />of Lakewood shall be $70,000.00 per annum and shall be increased two percent (2%) each <br />succeeding January as follows: <br /> January 1, 2001 $71,400.00 <br /> January 1, 2002 $72,828.00 <br /> January 1, 2003 $74,285.00 <br />said salary payable in equal installments every two (2) weeks. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council <br />concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in an open meeting <br />of this council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and any of its committees <br />that resulted in such formal actions, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance <br />with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> Section 4. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the <br />earliest period allowed by law provided, however, that the salary of the Mayor as herein <br />provided shall take effect January 1, 2000, and Ordinance No. 46-87 adopted June 15, <br />1987, shall be and the same is hereby repealed. <br /> <br />Adopted: z~J~ 6, <br /> <br />Approved:/Qf~ ~//~/~! <br /> <br />President <br /> <br /> <br />
