PLACED ON 1st READING ~ REFERRED to FINANCE <br />COMMITTEE ON 6/16/97. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 25 0- 9 7 <br /> <br /> BY:Boscia, Corrigan, <br />Flannery, George, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE fixing the compensation of the Probation Officer of <br />the Lakewood Municipal Court and the time and method of payment. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Municipal Court Act, Revised Code Section 1901.33 provides that the <br />legislative authority of a municipality shall fix the compensation of the Probation Officer <br />appointed by the Judge of a Municipal Court and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the usual <br />daily operation of a municipal department in that in the interest of public service, welfare and <br />safety, it is necessary to fix the compensation of the said Probation Officer and direct the time and <br />method of payment thereof} now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1, That the compensation of the Probation Officer of the Lakewood Municipal <br />Court is hereby fixed at the aggregate sum of Thirty-Three Thousand Two Hundred Eighty <br />Dollars per annum effective April 1, 1997. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Director of Finance is hereby authorized and directed to pay said <br />compensation of the Probation Officer as herein fixed, fi.om the City Treasury in semi-monthly <br />installments or in equal installments every two weeks. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning <br />and relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and <br />that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal <br />actions were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> Section 4. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure for the <br />reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of <br />all members elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption <br />and approval by the Mayor; otherwise, it shall take effect and be in force after the earliest period <br />allowed by law. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br />President <br /> <br />Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
