dwelling units, or in the shared or public parts of an occupiable structure, extermination thereof <br />shall be the responsibility of the owner. <br /> <br /> 1306.35 APPLICABILITY TO ROOMING HOUSES, ROOMING UNITS, MOTELS AND <br /> HOTELS. <br /> The provisions of this Code shall apply to all rooming houses, rooming units, motels and <br />hotels that are legally in existence on or which may come into existence after the effective date <br />of this Code. <br /> <br /> 1306.36 REGULATIONS. <br /> No person shall rent, lease, conduct, operate, occupy, maintain or own any interest in any <br />rooming house, rooming unit, motel or hotel except in compliance with every applicable <br />provision of this Code. <br /> <br /> 1306.37 COOKING DEVICES IN ROOMING UNITS. <br /> No person shall install, supply, connect, maintain, operate or use any cooking device in <br />any rooming unit. <br /> <br /> 1306.38 REQUIRED PLUMBING FIXTURES FOR ROOMING HOUSES. <br /> At least one flush water closet, lavatory basin and bathtub or shower, propedy connected <br />to the public water and sewer system, shall be supplied for each three roomers or fraction <br />thereof residing within a rooming house. However, members of the family of the operator of the <br />rooming house may share such facilities provided that the total number of persons does not <br />exceed eight and provided further that in a rooming house where rooms are let only to males, <br />flush udnals may be substituted for one-half the required number of water closets. All such <br />facilities shall be so located within the dwelling as to be reasonably accessible from a common <br />hail or passageway to all persons shadng such facilities. Every lavatory basin and bathtub or <br />shower shall be supplied with hot and cold running water at all times. No such facilities shall be <br />located in a cellar or basement. <br /> <br /> 1306.39 ROOMING UNIT EGRESS. <br /> Safe and unobstructed means of egress leading to safe and open space at ground level <br />shall be provided for each rooming unit. <br /> <br /> Habitable spaces: Sleeping rooms - No room shall be used for sleeping unless the room <br />is equipped With not less than one operable window or extedor door approved for emergency <br />rescue. Where windows are provided the bottom of the window shall be not more than 44 <br />inches above the floor. The window shall have a clear space of not less than 5.7 square feet <br />and the minimum dimensions shall be not less than 24 inches by 20 inches. Storm windows, <br />screens and safety guards shall be easily opened from the inside. <br /> <br /> 1306.40 SANITARY MAINTENANCE OF ROOMING HOUSES. <br /> The operator of every rooming house shall be responsible for the sanitary maintenance of <br />all walls, floors and ceilings and for the maintenance of sanitary conditions in every other part of <br />the rooming house, and he shall further be responsible for the sanitary maintenance of the <br />entire premises which are owned, leased, occupied or under the control of the operator. <br /> <br /> 1306.41 REPORTING COMMUNICABLE DISEASE. <br /> Every operator of a rooming house shall report to the Division of Public Health, <br />immediately upon discovery, any case of reportable communicable disease within the rooming <br />house. <br /> <br /> 1306.42 MAINTENANCE OF REGISTER. <br /> (a) Every operator of a rooming house, motel or hotel shell at all times keep and <br />maintain therein a register, in which shall be the name and home address of each and every <br />person renting or occupying a room or rooms therein, the make, model of automobile, if any, <br />ddven by such person, the registration number thereof and the state in which such vehicle is <br />registered. The person renting a room or rooms therein shall sign such register, and the <br />operator shall thereupon enter opposite such name the number or description of the room or <br />rooms assigned to such person, the date and time. No person shall be permitted to occupy any <br />room therein until ail such entries have been made in such register. <br /> <br />tl <br /> <br /> <br />
