ORDINANCE NO. 23-98 BY: Corrigan, Flannery, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Skindel!, Smith <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Section 313.10 of the Traffic Code <br />of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood by enacting a restriction to a right <br />turn against a steady red signal during the hours of 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Monday <br />through Friday, at the Detroit Avenue and Cob. asset Avenue intersection. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, concern exists for the safety of school children crossing Detroit <br />Avenue aI Cohasset Avenue during school hours; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has been determined that prohibiting a right mm against a steady <br />red signal during school hours at this intersection would contribute to the safety of <br />children by removing a potential hazard; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the <br />immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare; now, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That Section 313.10 of the traffic Code of the Codified Ordinances <br />of the City of Lakewood now reading as follows: <br /> <br />313.10 PROHIBITED TURNS ON RED SIGNALS. <br /> <br />Pursuant to the provisions of Section 313.03(c)(5), it is h~reby determined that the <br />following int~ections are used by a substantial number of school children and <br />are a h_~z~rd tp such school children and, therefore, a right mm against a steady <br />red siva! is hereby prohibited between the hours of g:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., <br />Monday through Friday, at the following intersections, upon the posting and <br />installation of the proper signs giving notice thereof: <br /> <br /> (2) Detroit Avenue. <br /> (f) Cohassett Avenue east bound only <br /> <br />shall be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> 313.10 PROHIBITED TURNS ON RED SIGNALS. <br /> <br /> Pursuant to the provisions of Section 313.03(c)(5), it is hereby determined thai the <br /> following intersections are used by a substantial number of school children and <br /> are a hazard tp such school children and, therefore, a right turn against a steady <br /> red signal is hereby prohibited between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., <br /> Monday through Friday, at the following intersections, upon the posting and <br /> installation of the proper signs giving notice thereof: <br /> <br />(2) Detroit Avenue. <br /> (0 Cohassett Avenue <br /> <br />north and east bound <br /> <br /> <br />
