Funeral leave may be extended at the discretion of the Chief of Fire <br />based on individual circumstances. Such extra time will be utilized <br />out of the employee's sick or vacation time. <br /> <br />F. HOLIDAYS FOR PARAMEDICS <br /> <br />Paramedics shall be granted eleven (11) holidays to include New <br />Year's Day, President's Day, Good Friday, Easter, Memorial Day, <br />Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, <br />Chdsbt~as Day, Martin Luther King, .Ir. Day, plus one (1) twenb/- <br />four (24) hour off-dub/period to be classified as a personal <br />business day provided the Paramedic works a full year in which the <br />holidays occur. These holidays shall be granted in the form of five <br />and one-half (5 1/2) twenty-four (24) hour off-duty periods to <br />compensate employees for holidays actually worked. Paramedics <br />who work the actual holiday shall be paid at the regular rate and <br />shall also receive "premium pay" which shall accrue at one-half <br />(1/2) hour for each hour worked. Holiday time must be t3ken <br />during bhe year in which it is earned. <br /> <br />G, UNIFORM ALLOWANCE FOR PARAMEDICS <br /> <br />Newly hired Paramedics shall receive (within 60 days of hire) a <br />stipend in the amount of $200.00 for uniform maintenance. Upon <br />successful completion of the required probationary period, the <br />Paramedic shall receive an additional $200.00. Thereafter, <br />Paramedics shall receive a uniform maintenance of $200.00 on <br />March 31~ and on September 30m of each year. <br /> <br />H SURVIVING PARAMEDIC SPOUSE BENEFTI'S <br /> <br />In the event that a Paramedic is killed in the line of duty, the <br />surviving spouse or estate of the Paramedic shall be compensated <br />in an amount equal to the salary they would have eamed as a <br />Paramedic in the Division of Fire. The benefit shall be paid for a <br />maximum of thirty-six (36) months from the date of death or until <br />such time as a surviving spouse remarries, whichever comes first. <br /> <br />I. PROBATION <br /> <br />Each Paramedic who has previously served a term of employment <br />in excess of two years at Lakewood Hospital shall serve a six month <br />period of probation. Otherwise, the term of probation shall be one <br />year. <br /> <br />]. HOSPJTAL[ZA'i'[ON COVERAGE <br /> <br />For purposes of hospitalization coverage, the sixty (60) day <br />continuous service requirement foUnd in Lakewood Codified <br />Ordinances Chapter ~.49 Section 15 is hereby waived. <br />Hospitalization coverage will commence upon date of hire. <br /> <br /> Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this <br />Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in <br />an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberatlon of the Council and <br />of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings <br />open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> <br />
