<br />Placed on 1st Reading & Referred to <br />Finance Committee 10/18/99. <br />Placed on 2nd Reading 11/1/99. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE No. 37-99 <br /> <br />By: Corrigan, FitzGerald, George, <br />Roth, Seelie, Skindell, Smith. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE authorizing the Mayor, on behalf of the City of Lakewood, Ohio, and in <br />jpint participation willi the First Suburbs Consortium of Northeast Ohio ("FSC"), and itS <br />members therein, llie County Commissioners of Cuyahoga County, Ohio (the "County"), and llie <br />Cleveland Foundation and other financial institutions (the "Other Participating Institutions") to <br />assist in the funding of a consultant for the purpose of conducting a comprehensive economic <br />revitalization initiative in order to assess FSC retail centers and improve retail mix, identify <br />appropriate marketing strategies, improve connections between retail centers, and educate <br />merchants and property owners on competing successfully. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City desires to . cooperate 'with the FSC, the County, and the Other <br />Participating Institutions in the formulation of a plan for the comprehensive assessment of the <br />future role of retail in the first suburbs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the FSC, the County and the Other Participating Institutions desire to conduct <br />such a market research study and have agreed to share in the cost for such study; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City could benefit from such a study by obtaining recommendations on <br />how the City's retail centers can compete in the future through improved retail mix, physical <br />fonn, connections and educatipn; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br />Section 1, That the'Mayor, on behalf of the City, is hereby authorized to join with the <br />FSC, the COW1ty and the Other Participating Institutions in selecting and funding a consultant for <br />a market research study for the purpose of assisting in the implementation of a comprehensive <br />economic revitalization initiative for -the improvement of FSC retail centers; the City's portion of <br />said funding shall not exceed $10,000.00 <br /> <br />Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council <br />concerning and relating to the passage of this Ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of this <br />Council, and that all such deliberation ofthe Council and of any of its committees that resulted in <br />such fonnal action were in- meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal <br />requirements <br /> <br />Section 3.
