CHAPTER 1321. REGISTRATION OF SPECIALTY CONTRACTORS <br /> <br />1321.01 REGISTRATION REQUIREMENT. <br /> <br /> (a) No person, corporation, partnership, firm or other business association <br />shall, acting in the capacity of a contractor, engage in heating, ventilating and/or air <br />conditioning work, hydronics work, electrical work or plumbing work, without first <br />registering for eachtrade with the Building Commissioner. <br /> <br /> (b) "Contractor", for the purpose of this section, means any person, <br />corporation, partnership, firm or other business association who performs any work <br />specified above for consideration evidenced by an oral or written agreement. <br />"Contractor", for purposes of this section, shall also mean any person, firm, corporation <br />or other business association which negotiates a contract either written or oral for any <br />work specified above, but does not perform physical labor to complete the work as set <br />forth in the contract. <br /> <br /> 1321.02 REGISTRATION BY BUILDING COMMISSIONER. <br /> (a) The Building Commissioner shall maintain a list of Registered <br />Contractors by Trade. The Commissioner shall record the name of any contractor, <br />being an individual or a business entity, on the List of Registered contractors upon <br />providing the Commissioner with the following: <br /> <br /> (1) A valid and unexpired license issued for the year and the <br />trade for which registration is sought, pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4740. <br />Where a contractor Seeks registration for work pertaining only to one, two and three <br />family properties and does not have a state issued license, the Building Commissioner <br />may accept a valid license issued by another City, which in the opinion .of the <br />commissioner, has a qualified examination; or a successfully completed written <br />examination based upon the applicable codes and ordinances, conducted by the <br />Building Commissioner, evidencing the registrant's ability to perform work in the trade <br />for which registration is sought. <br /> <br /> (2) Contractor's liability insurance, including but without limitation, <br />for bodily injury in the amount of One' Hundred Thousand Dollars/Three Hundred <br />Thousand Dollars ($100,000/$300,000), and for property damage in the amount of at <br />least Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000) or such greater amounts as permitted by Ohio <br />Revised Code §4740.06(B)(4). <br /> <br /> (3) A completed "Request for Registration/Renewal of Registration" <br />form as prescribed by the Building Commissioner; <br /> <br /> (4) A fee of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) for the registration and, if <br />applicable, a fee of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) for the testing provided for in subsection (1) <br />above. <br /> <br /> (b) Upon adding the contractor's name to the List of Registered <br />Contractors, the Building Commissioner shall issue the registrant a Certificate of <br />Registration as evidence of compliance with the above requirements. <br /> <br /> (c) Said Certificate of Registration shall be valid for the calendar year in <br />which issued and subject to renewal on January 1 of each year thereafter. <br /> <br /> (d) Where an individual has assigneci a state issued license to a business <br />entity pursuant to Ohio Revised Code {}4740.07, the Building Commissioner shall issue <br />the Certificate of Registration in both the name of the individual and the business entity. <br />Any work conducted by a registered business entity or individual is deemed to be <br /> <br /> <br />
