ORDINANCE NO. 131-02 <br /> <br />BY:corri§an, EitzGerald, <br />Ro/h, Seelie, Skindell <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE to submit to the electorate of the City of Lakewood an <br />Amendment to the Second Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Article XV[[I, Section 9 of the Ohio Constitution <br />petitions have been presented to Lakewood City Coundl requesting an <br />amendment to the Second Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Lakewood City Council is required by the Ohio constitution to <br />submit the question of whether to amend the Charter to the electors; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Lakewood City coundl has no discretion to change or <br /> otherwise amend the proposed Charter Amendment presented by petition; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Clerk of Coundl, through the Cuyahoga county Board of <br /> Elections, has verified that the petitions contain a suffident number of <br />· signatures. Now, therefore, <br /> BE 1T ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE ~ OF LAKEWOOD, STATE <br /> OF OHIO, <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the question of an Amendment to the Second <br /> Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood shall be submitted to the voters at <br /> the election to be held Tuesday, November 5, 2002. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the question shall be submitted to the voters in the <br />form presented by the petitions below, which is as follows: <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. -02 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE FOR THE SUBMZSSION TO THE ELECTORATE OF AN <br />AMENDMENT TO THE MUNICIPAL CHARTER RELATIVE TO ARTICLE XD(, <br />ELECTIONS, TO PROVIDE FOR NON-PARTLSAN ELEC'I/ONS AND DECLARING <br />AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant~to Article XXIII, Section 6 of the Amended Charter of <br />the City of Lakewood and Artide XVIII, Section 9 of the Ohio constitution <br />petitions have been presented to Lakewood City Council requesting an <br />amendment to the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Lakewood City Council is required by the Amended.Charter of <br />the City of Lakewood and the Ohio Constitution to submit the question of <br />whether to amend the Charter to the electors; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Lakewood City Council has no discretion to change or <br />otherwise amend the Charter Amendment presented by petition; and <br /> <br /> 'NOW THEREFORE, BE TI' ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE ClTY OF <br />LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. There shall be submitted to the electors of the City of <br />Lakewood at a munidpal election, to be held as is provided by law, the question <br />of amending Article XIX, Elections, to provide for non-partisan elections to be <br />held in all candidate elections in the future in the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br />GeorE <br /> <br /> <br />
