SECT[ON 6. DECLARATIONS OF CANDIDACY. <br />Candidates for the offices of Hayor and member of Coundl shall, not later than <br />4:00 p.m. of the seventy-fifth day before the day of the primary election, file a <br />declaration of candidacy as required by general law. Except as otherwise <br />required by this Charter, the general law of the state of Ohio shall govern such <br />declarations of candidacy. Nominations for each elective munidpal office shall <br />be made by petition only, on standard forms provided by the Cuyahoga County <br />Board of Elections for the nomination of non-partisan candidates. <br /> <br />SECT[ON 7. BALLOT FORk1 <br />Except at otherwise required by this Charter, the form of the ballot at pdmary, <br />special and regUlar munidpal elections shall be determined by the election <br />authorities in accordance with general law. <br /> <br />SECT[ON 8. NOMINATZON AND ELECTZON OF ]UDGES <br />Candidates for .ludge of the Lakewood Munldpal Court shall be nominated by <br />petition signed by at least two hundred (200) qualified electors of the City of <br />Lakewood, Ohio. Such petition or petitions when filed shall be accompanied by <br />the written acceptance of the nominee. Each signer of a petition shall sign his <br />or her name and at, er his or her name designate his or her residence. Such <br />petition or petitions shall be filed with the Board of Bections of Cuyahoga <br />County, Ohio, as one instrument at least ninety (90) days pdor to the date of <br />the hold of the election for the office of ]udge. The names of all candidates <br />thus nominated shall appear on a nonpartisan judidal ballot in the regular <br />municipal election. There shall not be a primary election in regard to judidal <br />candidates. <br /> <br /> Section 3. The ballots for said election shall, at the top thereof, be <br /> entitled ~Proposed Charter Amendment, City of Lakewood" and the question <br /> to be subm~ on said Ballot shall be in the following words: ~Shall Article <br /> X[X of the Charter of the City, Elections, be amended to provide for non- <br /> partisan elections to be held in all candidate elections in the future in the <br /> City of Lakewood?" In the app?opriate position shall appear the words ~Yes" <br /> and ~No". <br /> <br /> Section 4. Notice of the proposed munidpal charter amendment may <br /> be given by newspaper advertising as is provided by law. <br /> <br /> Section 5. The Clerk of Council is directed to certify a copy of this <br /> ordinance to the Board of Elections of Cuyahoga County, and to take all <br /> further action required by law relative to the submission of said amendment <br /> at said election. <br /> <br /> Section 6. That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, <br />and welfare of the citizens of the City of Lakewood, the Immediate <br />emergency being the necessity of forthwith submission of the proposed <br />Charter Amendment to the electors of the City of Lakewood as provided by <br />law. Therefore, this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately <br />upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br /> <br /> Section 7. That the foregoing proposed Amendment shall become <br />effective immediately uPon its adoption. <br /> <br /> Section 8. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this <br />Coundl concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were <br />adopted in an open meeting of this Coundl and of any of its committees that <br /> <br /> <br />
