ORDINANCE NO. 139-02 BY: Corrigan, Dunn, FitzGerald, George <br /> Roth, Seelie, Skindell. <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing the Mayor of the City of Lakewood, Ohio, to <br />enter into an Agreement with the Lakewood Assodaflon of Rrefighters, Local #382 of the <br />International Assodation of Fire Rghters, AFL-CZO for a three year period commencing .~anuary <br />1, 2001. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Administration has conducted extensive negotiations with the Lakewood <br />Assodation of Rrefighters, Local #382 of the Intemational Assodation of Rre Rghters, AFL-C[O <br />as the bargaining representative for Rre Rghters of the City of Lakewood; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the collective bargaining process resulted in a condliators award which has <br />now been memorialized in the form of a contract for the years 2001, 2002, and 2003; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Coundl and the Administration have reviewed such proposal and do desire to <br />ratify and adopt such agreement; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council by a vote of at least five (5) members elected thereto <br />determines that this ordinance is an emergency measure, and that this ordinance shall take <br />effect at the earliest date possible as set forbh in AR'I'ZCLE IH, SECTONS :tO and 13 of the <br />SECOND AMENDED CHARTER OF THE Cl'rY OF LAKEWOOD, and that it provides for the usual <br />daily operation of munidpal departments in that Rre Rghters within the Division of Rre have <br />been receiving benefits of employment under their previous contract. Now, therefore <br /> <br />BE I'F ORDAINED BY THE CTTY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor be and is hereby authorized and directed to enter into an <br />Agreement, for a three year period commenting 3anuary :t, 2001, with the Lakewood <br />Assodation of Firefighters, Local #382 of the International Assodation of Rre Rghters, AFL-CIO <br />on behalf of Rre Fighters of the Oty of Lakewood; the Agreement, made apart hereof as <br />though fully rewritten herein, is on file in the office of the Director of Law. <br /> <br /> Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Coundl <br />concerning and relating to the passage of this Ordinance were passed in an open meeting of <br />this Coundl and that all deliberations of this Coundl and any of its committees that resulted in <br />such actions were in meetings open to the public and in compliance with legal requirements. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />necessary for the Immediate preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and <br />welfare in the aty and for the usual daily operation of the City for the reasons set forth and <br />defined in the preamble to this ordinance, and provided it receives the affirmative vote of at <br />least five (5) of Its members elected to Coundl, this ordinance shall take effect and be in force <br />immediately upon its adoption by the Coundl and approval by the Mayor otherwise, it shall take <br />effect and be in force after the earliest period alloWed by law. <br /> <br />Approved:- _/~~ /0,.. ~) ~ <br /> ! <br /> <br />President of Coundl <br /> <br /> <br />
