PLACED ON 1ST READING & REFERRED TO THE <br />RULES & ORDINANCES CM~E 2J19/02, <br /> <br />PLACED ON 2~° READING 3/4/02. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 51-02 BY: Corrigan, Dunn, FitzGerald, <br /> George, Roth, Seelie, Skindell. <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE to amend section 545.15, Securing Writings by Deception, of the <br />Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood for the purpose of increasing the value of <br />the property or obligation involved for the crime to remain a misdemeanor and to <br />remain consistent with the Ohio Revised Code. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance is necessary for the public health, welfare and safety. <br />Now therefore, <br /> <br />BE ['1' ORD/LtNED BY THE c]-rY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br /> Section 1. That section 545.15, Securing Writings by Deception, of the <br />Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood currently readlng as follows: <br /> <br /> 545.15 SECURING WRITINGS BY DECEPTION. <br /> (a) No person, by deception, shall cause another to execute any writing <br />which disposes of or encumbers property, or by which a pecuniary obligation is <br />incurred. <br /> <br /> (b) Whoever violates this section is guilty of procuring writings by deception, <br />a misdemeanor of the first degree, if the value of the property or obligation involved is <br />less than three hundred dollars ($300.00). <br /> <br />shall be and is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> 545.15 SECURING WRI'i~NGS BY DECEFTTON. <br /> .(a) No person, by deception, shall cause another to execute any writing <br />which d~sposes of or encumbers property, or by which a pecuniary obligation is <br />incurred. <br /> <br /> (b) Whoever violates this section is guilty of procuring writings by deception, <br />a misdemeanor of the first degree, provided the value of the property or obligation <br />involved is less than five hundred dollars ($500.00). <br /> <br /> Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council <br />concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in an open <br />meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberation of the Council and of any of its <br />committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in <br />compliance with. all legal requirements.
