DEFERRED <br />on 4/19/04. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 29-04 <br /> <br />FitzGerald, Madigan, Seelie. <br /> <br /> An ORDINANCE to amend section 1306.44, License Application Form and Fee, of <br />the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood for the purpose of updating housing <br />license fees and paying the cost of periodic inspections. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the preservation and maintenance of the housing stock of the City is <br />vital to the preservation of the high quality of life enjoyed by the residents of <br />Lakewood, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, studies and inspections made by the Building Department, <br />Community Development Department and independent agencies all confirm that the <br />greatest concentration of code violations and deteriorat on occurs in rental dwelling <br />unitS, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, consultants and experts both inside and outside City government <br />agree that regular and frequent inspections of the category of residential units in which <br />violations are most likely to occur are the most cost-efficient method of guarding <br />against deterioration, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, housing license and inspection fees have not been increased since <br />1998 and the costs of issuing housing licenses and conducting inspections has <br />materially increased. Now therefore, <br /> <br />BE rf ORDAINED BYTHE C~q~' OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br /> Section 1. That Section 1306.44, License Application Form and F~e, ofthe <br />Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood currently reading as follows: <br /> <br />1306,44 LICENSE APPLICATION FORM AND FEE. <br /> <br />(a) Every application for a housing license shall be on a form approved by the official <br />charged with the enforcement of this Code. It shall state the name and address of the <br />applicant, the nature and extent of his interest in the building for which the license is <br />required, the name and address of the owner of the building, the location of the <br />building, the number of rooms therein, the number of dwelling units therein, the <br />number of rooming units therein and such other information as may be required by the <br />official charged with the enforcement of the Code. <br /> <br />(b) The housing license fees shall be as follows: oWner-occupied condominium units <br />- two dollars ($2.00); .nonowner-occupied condominium units - six dollars ($6.00i; <br />owner-occupied three-family dwellings - twenty-five dollars ($25.00); all other <br />structures requiring housing licenses pursuant to Section 1306.43 - twenty dollars <br />($20.00) per dwelling unit or rooming unit. <br /> <br />(c) Housing license fees shall be for the purpose of paying the cost of periodic <br />inspection and in no case shall the fee provided for herein be less than twenty dollars <br />($20.00) per building nor more than: <br /> <br />Multiple-family buildings and rooming units in which individual suites and/or rooms <br />must be inspected - two thousand dollars ($2,000); <br />Condominium buildings in which common areasf including exteriors, will be <br />inspected - one thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500). <br /> <br /> <br />
