<br />protection of the general public, persons residing or pasSing <br />near the applicant's premises, and the applicant; <br />E. The provisions which have been or will be made to protect <br />the safety and health of the animals involved; <br />F. Any other logically relevant information. <br />(5) An application for exemption under this subsection (d) shall be <br />denied unless the Director of Public Safety determines that, in view <br />of all the relevant criteria and any restrictions which he may <br />provide, reasonably appropriate measureS commensurate with the <br />degree of risk assoi::iated with the animals involved have been or <br />will be taken to assure at least a minimum acceptable level of <br />protection from danger to the health and safety of the general <br />public, persons residing or passing near the applicant's premises, <br />and the applicant. <br />(6) An exemption granted pursuant to this subsèction (d) may be <br />withdrawn by action of the Director of Public Safety in the event <br />that the Director pf Public Safety determines that there has been a <br />change in the conditions or assumptions under which it was <br />originally granted or in the event that the applicant fails .to comply <br />with restrictions originaJly placed on the exemption. <br /> <br />(e) No exemption granted pursuant to any paragraph of this section shall be <br />construed, nor is it intended by the City as a guaranty or warranty of any kind, whether <br />express or implied to any person, including without limitation the general public, <br />persons residing qr passing near the applicant's premises, or the applicant, either in <br />general or individually, as to the danger, or lack thereof, or degree of risk to health or <br />safety of any animal, specifically or generally, or any premises where any animal is <br />maintained or kept pursuant to such exemption. <br /> <br />(f) Whoèver violates any of the provisio.ns of this section is guilty of a minor <br />misdemeanor. A separate offense shall be as deemed committed for each day during or' <br />on which a violation occurs or continues. <br /> <br />505.19 RABIES VACCINATION OF DOGS AND CATS REQUIRED. <br />Any person owning any dog or cat over 120 days of age shall fie required to <br />have such animal currently immunized against rabies. For the purpose of this chapter <br />"currently immunized" or vaccinated against rabies shall mean that such dog has been <br />inoculated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian within the past thirty-six months <br />and such cat has been inoculated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian within the <br />past'twelve months. However, dqgs under six months of age which were inoculated <br />must receive a second rabies inoculation within twelve months. This provision shall not <br />apply to any catterie breeder duly licensed under the provisions of this chapter. <br /> <br />505.20 ANIMAL BITES; REPORTS AND QUARANTINE. <br />(a) Whenever any person is bitten by a dog or other animal, report of such <br />bite .shall be made to a police officer or the Department of Health within twenty-four <br />houliS. The dO\! or other animal inflicting a bite shall immediately be examined by a <br />qualified veterinarian and results of such examination shall be reported to the <br />Department of Health within twenty-four hours. At the direction of the Department of <br />Health, the dog or other animal shall either be confined by its Owner or harborer to his <br />premises away from the public at large, or be placed under supervision of a vèterinarian <br />at the owner's or harborer's expense. The isolation or observation period shall not be <br />less than ten days from the date the persqn was bitten at which time report of the <br />condition of thè animal shall be made to the Department of Health. <br />No person shall fail to comply with the requirements of this section or with any <br />order of the Department of Health made pursuant thereto, nor fail to immediately <br />report to the Department of Health any symptom or behavior suggestive of rabies. <br /> <br />(b) Any owner of any dog known to have, or suspected of having, rabies or <br />having been subjected to rabies, shall immediately notify a pOlice officer or the <br />Department of Health of such fact, and immediately surrender such dog to any health <br />officer or police officer upon demand of such officer. No owner knqwing or suspecting <br />that a dog has rabies, shall allow such dog to be taken off his premises without the <br />permission of a health officer or police offiCer. Any health officer or police officer upon <br />ascertaining a dog is rabid shall immediately remove the dog to the pound or summarily <br />destroy It. <br /> <br />(c) Whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor. <br />
