<br /> <br />PLACED ON 1ST READING & REFERRED TO <br />THE RULES & ORDINANCES COMMITTEE 6/21/04, <br />PLACED ON 2ND READING 7/6/04. <br /> <br />ORDINANr¡E NO. 69~04 <br /> <br />BY: Corrigan, Demro, Dever, Dunn, <br />FitzGerald, Madigan, Seelie. <br /> <br />Lakewood Codified Ordinances to add new Section <br />to the abatement of criminal activity nuisances <br />of costs to the Police Department of responding <br />and declaring an emergency. <br /> <br />An Oírlinarice Amending the <br />relative <br />and the collection <br />to such nuisances, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City has by ordinance declared a number of <br />actions and conditions as nuisances, and the City may abate many <br />of such nuisances ancl the costs may be assessecl on the property <br />on which the nuisance has occurred, or from which the nuisance <br />has originated; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the residents of the <br />affected by criminal activity'that <br />originating from, certain residential <br />in the City; and <br /> <br />City have been aclversely <br />occurs repeatedly at, or <br />and commercial properties <br /> <br />WHEREAS, repeated violations of law stemming from a single <br />property or business can place an undue burcien on the City's <br />safety resources, and therefore, an undue burden on taxpayers; <br />and although most property owners and operators of businesses <br />take responsibility for activities on their property, some <br />property owners and operators of business fail to take <br />aggressive action, or any action at all, to cleal with such <br />nuisance activities by people whom they have alloweci to live at <br />or to visit their property, or patronize their businesses; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, such repeated criminal activities greatly <br />interfere with the comfortable enj oyment of life and property <br />for the neighbors of such nuisance pr9perties, and lead to the <br />deterioration of neighborhoods, as responsible homeowners move <br />out of neighborhoods where such activity recurs. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of <br />Lakewood, State of Ohio: <br /> <br />Section 1.
