ORDINANCE NO. 68-05 By: Corrigan~ Demro~ Dever~ Dunn~ FitzGerald, Madigan~ ,-, AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Section 1309.02, Building Permit Fees, of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood for the purpose of changing certain fees charged by the City of Lakewood. WHEREAS, on May 16, 2005 Council adopted Ordinance No. 29-05 that amended Chapter 1309, Permit Fees; and WHEREAS, that iegislation contained a typographicai error that inadvertently increased building permit fees for commercial additions and alterations; and WHEREAS, the intent was to only increase fees for commercial new construction. WHEREAS, this Council by a vote of at least five (5) members elected thereto determines that this ordinance is an emergency measure, and that this ordinance shall take effect at the earliest date possible as set forth in ARTICLE III, SECTONS 10 and 13 of the SECOND AMENDED CHARTER OF THE cm OF LAKEWOOD, and that it is necessary for the Immediate preservation of the public property, health and safety, and to provide for the usual daily operation of municipal departments. Now Therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE cm OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That Section 1309.02, Building Permit Fees, of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood, currently reading as follows: 1309.02 BUILDING PERMIT FEES. (a) New Buildinas and Structures. (1) Residential. A. One hundred dollars ($100.00) for the first one thousand dollars ($1,000) of valuation; B. One percent (1 %) of the remaining valuation in excess of one thousand dollars ($1,000). (2) Commercial, Industrial, Retail, Mercantile, Assembly or Apartment House Use: A. One hundred dollars ($100.00) for the first one thousand dollars ($1,000) of valuation; B. Two percent (2%) of any amount between one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) and five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000.00) of valuation; B. One percent (1%) of the remaining valuation in excess of five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000.00). (b) New Additions and Alterations. For all new additions and alterations which change the height, area, classification or grade of the building: (1) Residential. A. Twenty dollars ($20.00) for the first one thousand dollars ($1,000) of valuation; B. One percent (1 %) of the remaining valuation in excess of one thousand dollars ($1,000). . (2) Commercial, Industrial, Retail, Mercantile, Assembly or Apartment House Use: A. One hundred dollars ($100.00) for the first one thousand dollars ($1,000) of valuation; B. Two percent (2%) of any amount between one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) and five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000.00) of valuation;
