PLACED ON 1~ READING & REFERRED TO THE <br />HOUSING COMMITTEE 4/20/09, 2ND READING <br />5/4/09. <br />Ordinance No. 46-09 BY: Antonio, Bullock, Butler, Dever, <br />Madigan, Powers, Summers. <br />AN ORDINANCE authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the <br />Cuyahoga County Housing Consortium for the Lakewood Mixed Use Rental Assistance <br />Program "MURAL" Program to be funded with HOME Program funds. <br />WHEREAS, the Cuyahoga Housing Consortium has been designated by the U.S. <br />Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as a grantee of funds under <br />HUD's Home Investment Partnership Program "HOME"; and <br />WHEREAS, the City is a member of the Consortium and as such has been <br />granted funds to assist promote affordable housing opportunities to low and moderate <br />income households; and <br />WHEREAS, the Cuyahoga Housing Consortium approved at its March 11, 2009, <br />board meeting the use of $200,000 of HOME Program funds for an amended MURAL <br />contract; and <br />WHEREAS, the City has over 70 buildings with a storefront on the first floor with <br />housing above it; and <br />WHEREAS, occupancy of these residential units tends to be by low to moderate <br />means; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lakewood MURAL Program expands the current Storefront <br />Renovation Program by allowing a subsidy to renovate the interior of the rental units <br />located above commercial spaces. Now, Therefore, <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br />Section 1. That the Mayor of the City of Lakewood is hereby authorized to enter <br />into an agreement in an amount not to exceed $200,000 with the Cuyahoga Housing <br />Consortium for the Lakewood Mixed Use Rental Assistance Program "MURAL Program" <br />to be funded with HOME Program funds. <br />
