PLACED ON iST READING AND REFERRED TO THE <br />RULES & ORDINANCES COMMITTEE 11/20/06. <br />SECOND READING 12/4/06. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 80-06 BY: <br /> <br />FitzGerald, Madigan, Seelie. <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE to create a new section within Chapter 144, Civil Service <br />Commission, of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakew0od to set out age <br />re~tuirements for entry level PoSitions in the Fire Department. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance is necessary in that any Rules and Regulations <br />of the Lakewood Civil Service Commission which differ from the Ohio Revised <br />Code must be enacted by ordinance; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, based on the experience of the Civil Service Commission and <br />their extensive review of the Rules and Regulations, the Commission <br />recommends that the age requirements for entry level fire fighter be reflected as <br />described in the proposed ordinance. Now, therefore <br /> <br />BE iT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That a new Section within Chapter 144, Civil Service <br />Commission, of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood is hereby <br />created to read as follows: <br /> <br />144,XX QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPLICANTS FOR FTRE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />All applicants for entry level uniformed positions for Fire must be at <br />least twenty-one (21) years of age at the time of appointment, and no <br />person shall be eligible to receive an original appointment on and/or <br />affer the person's thirty-first (3:Pt) birthday. <br />Subsection (a) hereof is specifically intended to supersede State Code <br />provisions on the age of applicants for appointment to positions in the <br />Fire Department. <br /> <br /> Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this <br />Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in <br />an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council <br />and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings <br />open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br />PRESIDENT <br /> <br />CLERK~ 7. <br /> <br /> <br />
