AN ORDINANCE to create a new section within Chapter 144, Civil Service Commission, of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakew0od to set out age re~tuirements for entry level PoSitions in the Fire Department. WHEREAS, this ordinance is necessary in that any Rules and Regulations of the Lakewood Civil Service Commission which differ from the Ohio Revised Code must be enacted by ordinance; and WHEREAS, based on the experience of the Civil Service Commission and their extensive review of the Rules and Regulations, the Commission recommends that the age requirements for entry level fire fighter be reflected as described in the proposed ordinance. Now, therefore BE iT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That a new Section within Chapter 144, Civil Service Commission, of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood is hereby created to read as follows: 144,XX QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPLICANTS FOR FTRE DEPARTMENT (a) (b) All applicants for entry level uniformed positions for Fire must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age at the time of appointment, and no person shall be eligible to receive an original appointment on and/or affer the person's thirty-first (3:Pt) birthday. Subsection (a) hereof is specifically intended to supersede State Code provisions on the age of applicants for appointment to positions in the Fire Department. Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements.
