<br />Please substitute for 81 "06 <br /> <br />PLACED ON 1ST READING & REFERRED TO THE <br />RULES & ORDINANCES COMMITTEE 11/20/06, <br />2ND READING 12/4/06. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 81-06,,; <br /> <br />BY: Antonío~ Butler~ Demro~ Dever, <br />FitzGerald, Madigan, Seelíe. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE to create a new section within Chapter 144, Civil Service <br />Commission, of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood to set out <br />additionai credits extended to candidates for original appointment toa civil <br />service position. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this ordinance is necessary in that any Rules and Regulations <br />of the Lakewóod Civil Service Commission which differ from the Ohio Revised <br />Code must be enacted by ordinance; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, based on the experience of the Civil Service Commission and <br />their extensive review of thè Rules and Regulations, the Commission <br />recommends that the additional credits extended to candidates be refiected as <br />described in the proposed ordinance. Now, therefore <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br />Section 1. That a new Section within Chapter 144, Civil Service <br />Commission, of the Cpdified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood is hereby <br />created to read as follows: <br /> <br />144.XX ADDITIONAL CREDITS <br /> <br />(a) An applicant otherwise eligible and qualified for original appointment to <br />the position of Patrol Officer shall be extended the following additional <br />credit for a degree from a nationally accredited college or university, if the <br />applicant can satisfactorily furnish proof of same. Only one such <br />additional credit may be added to any individual applicant's score. <br /> <br />Percentaae of Passing Score <br /> <br />Dearee <br /> <br />2% <br /> <br />Associate <br /> <br />5% <br /> <br />Bachelor <br /> <br />(b) Credit for Active Service in United States Military: Any applicant otherwise <br />eligible and qualified may receive additional credit as follows for active <br />military service with any branch of the United States military including the <br />Coast Guard. No such additional credit may be awarded unless the <br />applicant in question received an Honorable Discharge, or a General <br />Discharge under Honorable Conditions from the service. Discharges under <br />other than honorable conditions, including without limitation, General, <br />Undesirable, and For the Good of the Service, shall make the applicant <br />ineiigible for such additional credit. Such credits shall be added to a <br />passing score as follows: <br /> <br />1. For each year of honorable service, or any part thereof, one (1) <br />point shall be added to a passing score, up to a maximum of three <br />(3) points. <br />
