Ordinance No. 90-06 <br /> <br />PLACED ON 1ST READING & REFERRED TO THE <br /> <br />2ND KEADIN~ ~2/18/06~ my: <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE authorizing the Mayor, on behalf of the City, to enter into <br />amended agreements with the Cuyahoga Housing Consortium ("Consortium") and/or <br />the Cuyahoga County Department of Development and Welcome House, Inc, for <br />participation the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HOME <br />Program C'Program'') in an amount not to exceed Seventy-Two Thousand Dollars <br />($72,000) for use in renovations for ADA compliance and any other use that the <br />Consortium finds is consistent with the HOME Program. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Welcome House, Inc. is an Ohio not-for-profit corporation founded to <br />create and maintain residential community based programs for the care and assistance <br />of people who are mentally retarded and developmentally disabled; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Welcome House, Inc. has purchases a multi-unit apartment building <br />located at 136S Bunts Avenue to convert it into a group home at an estimated cost of <br />$1.3 million; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council authorized assistance in 2005 in the form of a grant of <br />HOME Program Funds in the amount of $40,000 to assist with this project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this additional funding will allow them to complete this project; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this grant will further promote fair housing within the City of <br />Lakewood by increasing the availability of ADA compliant housing to Iow and moderate <br />income residents. Now, therefore <br /> <br />BE ~l- ORDAINED BY THE CD'Y OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1, That the Mayor, on behalf of the City, to enter into amended <br />agreements with the Cuyahoga Housing Consortium ("Consortium") and/or the <br />Cuyahoga County Department of Development and Welcome House, Inc., for <br />participation the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HOME <br />Program ("Program") in an amount not to exceed Seventy-Two Thousand Dollars <br />($72,000) for use in renovations for ADA compliance and any other use that the <br />Consortium finds is consistent with the HOME Program. <br /> <br /> Section 2.
