<br />PLACED ON 1ST READING & REFERRED TO THE <br />RULES & ORDINANCES COMMITTEE 2/19/08. <br />PLACED ON 2ND READING 3/3/08. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 25-08 <br /> <br />BY: Antonio, Bullock, Butler, Dever, <br />Madigan, Powers, Summers. <br />AN ORDINANCE to amend Section 121.15, Duties ofthe Clerk of Council, of the <br />Codified Ordinances of the City of lakewood for the purpose of changing the deadline <br />for placing items on Council's agenda to the Wednesday prior to the meeting at 5:00 <br />p.m. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, City Council is entertaining communication from its President <br />suggesting a comprehensive review of our internal rules and procedures, whether <br />codified or otherwise; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 121.15 of the Codified Ordinances currently permits the <br />Council Clerk to accept docket submissions until noon on the Thursday prior to the <br />following regularly-scheduled Council meeting; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Council has discussed moving its docket deadline to an earlier day in <br />order that its members be provided with an adequate period of time to review the <br />docket; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Council has discussed moving its docket deadline to an earlier day in <br />order that the Council Clerk have sufficient time to prepare the often voluminous <br />materials for the docket; now therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br /> <br />Section 1. That Section 121.15, Duties of the Clerk of Council, of the Codified <br />Ordinances of the City of lakewood currently reading as follows: <br /> <br />121.15 DUTIES OF CLERK OF COUNCIL. <br /> <br />(a) In addition to the duties usually and customarily performed by the Clerk <br />and secretaries, and such further duties as may be required by law or by resolution of <br />Council, it shall be the duty of the Clerk to prepare a docket and agenda of the <br />business proposed to be transacted at any regular or special Council meeting and to <br />cause a copy thereof to be delivered to each member of Council, the Mayor and each <br />department and division head not less than forty-eight hours before the meeting. No <br />matter not included in the docket, or otherwise called to the attention of all members of <br />Council at least twelve hours before the meeting, shall be submitted to Council for final <br />action if objected to by two members present. <br /> <br />(b) In preparing the docket and agenda for each regular Council meeting, the <br />Clerk shall only place thereon all matters received fOr such purpose by noon of the <br /> <br />, <br />L <br />t <br />
