First Reading and Referred to the Committee <br />Of the Whole 11/16/2009; Second Reading <br />12/7/2009; Please Substitute for Original <br />ORDINANCE NO. 84-09 BY: Antonio, Bullock, Butler, Dever, <br />Madigan, Powers, Summers <br />AN ORDINANCE to take effect immediately provided it receives the affirmative vote of <br />at least five (5) members elected to Council otherwise, it shall take effect and be in force after the <br />earliest period allowed by law, to amend Ordinance 53-06 adopted July 3, 2006 to amend <br />Chapter 915, Water Rates, of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood for the purpose <br />of adjusting water rates charged against each lot, pazcel of land or premises which may have an <br />active water connection with the Municipal water system. <br />WHEREAS, sufficient revenues are required to recover costs budgeted for the operations <br />of the Water Distribution System; and <br />WHEREAS, continued decreases in consumption of water has a negative impact on <br />revenues received over time; and <br />WHEREAS, sufficient dollars are required to meet scheduled debt service payments; and <br />WHEREAS, in order to offset the increases in the purchased water from the City of <br />Cleveland to the City as well as the continuing increases in the costs of operations, it is necessary <br />for the City to increase the rates charged; <br />Now therefore, <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br />Section 1. That Chapter 915, Water Rates, of the Codified Ordinances of the City of <br />Lakewood currently reads as follows: <br />915.01 ESTABLISHMENT OF RATES <br />The .Director of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to establish water <br />rates charged monthly by the Division of Water and Wastewater Collections as follows: <br />(a) Effective January 1, 2006, all water used during each one month billing period <br />shall cost not more than three and eighty-five hundredths dollars ($3.85) per <br />one hundred cubic feet of water. <br />(b) Effective January 1, 2007, all water used during each one month billing period <br />shall cost not more than four and seventy-five hundredths dollars ($4 75) per <br />one hundred cubic feet of water. <br />
