915.03 HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION <br />There is hereby established a Special Homestead exemption whereby water rates <br />charged fo homesteads owned by a person 65 years of age or older or owned by a <br />permanently or totally disabled person, provided that such person's income falls below <br />thirty-five thousand dollars ($35,000) per annum. Pursuant to this exemption, persons <br />eligible shall be charged fifty-five percent (55 %) of the water rate established pursuant <br />to this chapter. <br />Shall be and is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />915.01 ESTABLISHMENT OF RATES <br />The Director of Finance is hereby authorized and directed to establish water rates <br />charged monthly by the Division of Utility Billing as follows: <br />(a) Effective January 1, 2011, all water used during each one month billing period <br />shall cost not more than five and eighty-one hundredths dollars ($5.81) per one <br />hundred cubic feet of water. <br />915.02 CUSTOMER SERVICE CHARGE -Removed <br />915.03 HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION <br />There is hereby established a Special Homestead exemption whereby water rates <br />charged to homesteads owned by a person 65 years of age or older or owned by a <br />permanently or totally disabled person, provided that such person's income falls below <br />thirty-five thousand dollars ($35,000) per annum. Pursuant to this exemption, persons <br />eligible shall be charged fifty-five percent (55 %) of the water rate established pursuant <br />to this chapter. <br />Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and <br />relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and <br />that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such <br />formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br />Section. 3. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the <br />immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare in the City, and for the <br />usual daily operation of the City for the reasons set forth and defined in the preamble to this <br />Ordinance, and provided it receives the affirmative vote of at least five (5) of its members elected <br />to Council, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage by the <br />Council and approval by the Mayor; otherwise, it shall take effect and be in force after the <br />eazliest period allowed by law. <br />Adopted: 4-~P~~- ~ ?.rJ p_2 ~ 1 U ~-~''~~i`^ .~li~i' <br />
