Proposed Ordinance 53-10. Substituted October 18, 2010. <br />(1) "Billboard" means a sign which is primarily intended to direct attention to a <br />specific business, product, service, entertainment or any other activity sold, <br />offered or conducted elsewhere than upon the same lot or premises on which <br />the sign is located and which may, subject to the provisions of this chapter, <br />contain noncommercial message. <br />(2) °Bulletin board" means a sign which if primarily intended to advertise he name of <br />the business or establishment, the goods or commodities sold and/or brand <br />names thereof, or services rendered on the lot or premises which the sign is <br />located and which may, subject to the provision of this chapter, contain <br />noncommercial messages. The terms °advertising" and "brand names" <br />distinguish business signs from identification signs. (Ord. 52-85. Passed 9-35- <br />85.) <br />(3) "Business sign" means a sign which is primarily intended to advertise the name <br />of the business establishment, the good or commodities sold and/or brand <br />names thereof, or services rendered on the lot or premises which the sign is <br />located and which may, subject to the provisions this chapter, contain non- <br />commercial messages. The terms °advertising" and °brand names" distinguish <br />business signs from identification signs.. (Ord. 52-85. Passed 9-3-85.) <br />(4) °Development sign" means a sign directing attention to the promotion, <br />development or construction of a building or subdivision on the parcel of land on <br />which the sign is located. <br />(5) °Directional sign" means a sign indicating the direction to which attention is <br />called either on the lot on which the. sign is located or which directs attention to <br />another location. (Ord. 58-79. Passed 7-16-79.) <br />(6) "Identification sign" means a sign which is primarily intended to indicate the <br />name, owner, manager and/or address of an existing. building or business and <br />which may, subject to the provision of this chapter, contain noncommercial <br />messages. <br />(7) "Informational sign" means a sign which is primarily intended to give general <br />information to the public concerning the location of places for lodging, vehicle <br />service, time, weather, historic sites, areas of natural scenic beauty or outdoor <br />recreation facilities and similar information and which may, subject to the <br />provision of this chapter, contain noncommercial messages. (Ord. 52-85. <br />Passed 9-3-85.) <br />(8) °Nameplate" means a sign indicating the name, address or profession of the <br />person or persons occupying the lot or part of a building. <br />(9) "Real. estate sign" means a sign directing attention to the promotion, <br />development, construction, rental, sale or lease of property on which it is <br />located. (Ord. 58-79. Passed 7-16-79.) <br />(10) "Temporary sign" means. a sign of any type to announce special events or sales, <br />to announce the sale, lease or rental of property and designed to be used for a <br />period of time up to sixty days, but not to include a bulletin board. (Ord. 50-80. <br />Passed 10-6-80.) <br />(11) "Changeable copy sign" means a sign or any portion thereof where the message <br />or graphics is not permanently affixed to the structure,. framing or background <br />and may be periodically replaced or covered over, manually or by electronic <br />mechanical devices.
