RESOLUTION NO. 3539 BY Nr, Gottermeyer <br /> <br /> AN E~Em~RGENCYRESO!~TION authorizing the Mayor~ as Director of Public Works, <br />to advertise for bids for the construction of a public swimming pool in Lakewood <br />Park. <br /> <br /> V~HERW~S, pursuant to Resolution No. 3417 and related legislation subse- <br />quently adopted, the question of the issuance of bonds in the amount cf $250~000.00 <br />for the purpose of construction of a public swinging pool and of the purchase cf <br />furniture, furnishings and apparatus in equipping such swimming peel for use was <br />submitted to the electors and approved; and <br /> <br /> '~m~EAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. 4656, said bonds were issued and sold~ <br />and a contract for the drawing of the plans and specifications was entered into <br />with architects; and <br /> <br /> ~tERF~S, the National Production Authority has issued to the City an <br />authorized construction schedule and allotment of controlled materials for such <br />purpose; and <br /> <br /> WHEP~AS, this resolution constitutes an emergency for the reasons that <br /> in order to proceed under said authorized construction and allotment and to secure <br /> the best possible bids in the interests cf the City, it is necessary to adopt <br /> this legislation forthwith, and in that it provides for the public welfare and <br /> the usual daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefca'e <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CIT~ OF IAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor, as Director of Public ~orks, be, and he is <br /> hereby, authorized to advertise for bids for the construction of a fire-proof <br /> public swimming pool in Lakewood Park in accordance with the plans and specifica- <br /> tions prepared by the architects employed by the City, which plans and specifica- <br /> tions have been heretofore, and are hereby, approved. <br /> Section 2. THat the advertisement for said bids shall provide for and <br /> require that bids for the construction of said public swimming pool shall be in <br /> accordance with said plans and specifications, together with bids for portions <br /> thereof, as alternates, which may be included in or eliminated from the contract <br /> for and the construction shall state that the City may accept or reject any or <br /> all bids including alternates; and that the advertisement for said bids shall he <br /> published on january and February , 1953, and the bids opened on <br /> Monday, February ,-~-~3. <br /> <br /> Section 3, This resolution is h~reby declared to be an emergency measure <br /> for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and, provided it receives the af- <br /> firmative vote. of two-thirds ef all members elected to Council, it shall take <br /> effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption. <br /> <br />Adopted: JamAary 19, 1953 <br /> <br />Approved: January 20, 1953 <br /> <br />George F.
