RESOLUTION NO. 3628 BY--- <br /> <br />IMr~. Chockley <br /> Mr. Fahrenbach <br /> Fairgrieve <br /> ~ Gottermeyer <br />(Mr. Rozek <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Cuyahoga County is represented at the General Assembly <br />of Ohio by seventeen (17) Representatives and six (6) Senators, all <br />of whom are elected at large; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the system of electing such a large number of Repre- <br />sentatives and Senators at-large is mndesirable in that some homo- <br />geneous sections of the County have t®o few representatives and ethers <br />have too many, in that the County should be divided into homogeneous <br />sections for representation in the General Assembly and in that it is <br />impossible te know or intelligently select from thirty-four (3~ candi- <br />dates for State Representative and Twelve (12) candidates for State <br />Senator for election to the General Assembly; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Comnty is already divided into four homogeneous <br />sections for representation in the Congress of the United Sta~es, <br />namely, the Twentieth, Twenty-First, Twenty-SecOnd and Twenty Third <br />Congressional Districts, whiah districts would be suitable for rePre- <br />sentation in the General Assembly; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City <br />of Lakewood memorialize and respectfully urge that the General Assembly <br />of OhiO give favorable consideration to the Wheeler Resolution, being <br />House Joint Resolution No. 5: and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED~ that the Clerk of Comncil be directed <br />to send copies of this Resolution to the Hon. Stanley Mechem, Speaker <br />Pro Tom of the Ohio Senate~ Hon. Roger Cloud, Speaker of the Ohio <br />House and Hon. Kenneth Berry, Chairman of the Ohio Rouse Committee on <br />Elections. <br /> <br />Adopted: March 21, 19~~ <br /> <br />Wm.
