<br /> A RESOLUTION protesting the enactment of Substitute Senate
<br />Bill 33& ~bich would prevent the City of Lakewood, Ohio from belonging
<br />to any organization ~hich attempted to influence ~the Ohio ~eneral
<br />Assembly by means of lobbying and endorsing the ~ork of the Ohio Munic-
<br />ipal League.

<br /> ¥~LgREAS__it has been brought to the attention of the Council
<br />of the City of Lakewood, Ohio, that Substitute Sem'~te Bill .~ has
<br />been offered before the Ohio Legislature and coaaaittee meetings on
<br />said bill ara now An progress~ and ~
<br />
<br /> ~fl~AS, said bill ~ould prohibit any municipality from
<br />porting, paying dues to, or otherwise providing funds for organize
<br />tions which in pal~c, or i~ total, attempt to i[~lllenca legislation
<br />pending before the ~eneral Assembly: and
<br />
<br /> ~EREAS, ~he City of Lakewood, Ohio is a member of the Ohio
<br />Municipal League, one of ~hoae purposes is to propose and to present
<br />a coordinated legislative program and to analyze legislative proposals
<br />and to protest legislation detrimental to the Ohio cities and villages;
<br />and
<br />
<br /> ~EREAS, such legislation, if passed, would be discriminatory
<br />against the cities and villages of the State of Ohio in favor of
<br />other governmental agencies; now, therefore,
<br />
<br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKE~OOD, STATE
<br />OF OHIO:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. The City Council of the City of Lakewood, Ohio .
<br />hereby protests against the enactment of any such legislation as pro
<br />posed bY Substitute ~enate Bill ~)& and respectfully requests the
<br />members of the Ceneral Assembly representing this region, to oppose
<br />
<br />the same; and ~
<br />
<br /> Section 2, A copy of this resolution be sent by the City
<br />Clerk to the membe.rs of the Ohio House and Senate representing the
