Ksuffman, appointed Director of Finance in January, <br />192~, not only fulfilled the obligations of that office but, also, for <br /> considerable period of time until March l~, 19~2s as 2cti~ ~yor, <br />cs~ably carried on a~d perfo~d the added duties of the ~yor~s Office$ <br />~d <br /> <br /> W~EREA$, upon dee.ass off ~. A. ~iegand, he assumed ~he full personal <br />responsibilities of such office and, upon the ability thus shown, in <br />1933 was elected Mayor to complete the ter~ ending December 31, 1935J and <br /> <br /> W~EAS. ~[~yor Eauffmen ~aa again elected for the term beginning <br />janumry 1, 1936~ again elec~ed.fo~ th~ term beginni.ng January 1, <br />again elected for the term oegxnmx.ng ~enus~71, t955~ again elected for <br />the term beginning J~nuary 1, 19~8, and again elected for ~he term begin- <br />ning January 1, 19~2~ and <br /> <br /> ~EREAS, due to hie record as Mayor and to his interest in the welfare <br />~nd common problems of all ~u~,icipalities of the ~tate Of Ohio, he wac <br />elected President of the League of Ohio ~nicip~lities for the years 1956 <br />~nd 1~$? and was in the ~orefront in securing legislation to facilitate <br />and improve municipal government, not only dUring but also before and <br />following his term of officeJ and <br /> <br /> ~HF~EAS. ~.~yor Xauffman has determined to complete his official public <br />service on December 31, 1~5~; no~, ~herefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED this nineteenth day of December, 195~, that this <br />Council Join with the citizens and employees of the City of Lakewood= <br /> <br /> Xn extending special greetings to Mayor A~os I. Xauffm~n on the <br />occasion of this Christm~s and Holiday Seasons <br /> <br /> In recording loss of the serviCeS of an eminent ~yor$ <br /> <br /> In recognizing and paying tribute to his insight into and solutions <br />of recurring problems of municipal governments <br /> <br /> In noting hie able leadership end emphasizing his m~ny contributions <br />to the progress and welfare of the City of Lskewood ~nd of i~s citizens$ <br /> <br /> In specially recordin~ the sterling and unblemished qualities of a <br />service which extended for a period longer than any preceding Mayor~ and <br /> <br /> In full concer~ of hope and utmost good wishes for imp[oved health <br />and for many future happy and enjoyable days, to Amos I.
