RESOLUTION NO. 3706 BY Messrs. <br /> <br />Chockley, Fahrenbach, <br />Fairgrieve, Gaydos, <br />Gottermeyer, Quinn, <br />Ward° <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION expressing the appreciation of the City of <br />Lakewood, Ohio, to Senator George H. Bender, for the splendid co- <br />operation extended to its officials during the recent major dis- <br />aster. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, On the night of Nay 12, 1956, the City of Lakewood, <br />Ohio, was struck by a violent storm, as a result of which two per- <br />sons lost their lives, many were injured and much property was de- <br />stroyed; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The scope of the disaster was of such great magni- <br />tude that the city personnel and facilities were inadequate to cope <br />with the havoc and destruction following in the wake of such storm; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Senator George H. Bender, deeply concerned with <br />the welfare of the citizens of Lakewood, proceeded with great <br />alacrity to expedite the granting of Federal assistance to our com- <br />munity; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Senator Bender came to Lakewood to make a personal <br />inspection of the extent of the damage occasioned to our city during <br />the storm, now, therefore, be it <br /> <br /> RESOLVED that the members of the City Council adopt this <br />resolution as an expression of appreciation to Senator George H. <br />Bender, for his aid and assistance to our community in its time of <br />need; and be it further <br /> <br /> RESOLVED that the Clerk of Council transmit an authenti- <br />cated copy of this resolution to Senator George H.
