Minshall, for th~ splendid <br />cooperation extended to i%e officials during the recent major dis <br />aster. <br /> <br /> ~EREA$, On the night of May 12, 19~6, the City of Lakewood, <br />Ohio, was struck by a violent storm, as a resUlt of which two per- <br />sons lost their lives, ~anywere injured and much pr~pertywas de- <br /> <br />stroyed; and <br /> <br /> ~EREAS. The scope of the disaster ~ae ef such great magni- <br />tude that the c~ty ~ersonnel and facilities were inadequate to cope <br />~ith the havoc and destruction following in the wake of such atorm~: <br />and <br /> <br /> 9~EREAS, Congressman William E. Minshall, deeply concerned <br />with the welfare of the citizens of Lakewood, proceeded with great <br />alacrity to expedite ~he granting of Federal assistance to o~r com- <br />munity~ and <br /> <br /> ~EREA$, CongreesmanMinshall came to Lake~ood to make a <br />personal inspection of the extent of the damage occasioned to our <br />city during the storm, ~ow therefore, be it <br /> <br /> RESOLYgD that the members of the City Council adopt this <br />resolution as an expres~ion of appreciation to Congressman William <br />g. ~nshall, for his aid and assistance to ourcommu~ity in its <br />time ef need~ and be it further <br /> <br /> RESOLVED that the Clerk of Council transmit an authenti- <br />cated copy of this resolution to CongresamanWilliam E, <br /> <br />Adopte~..Mmy 21. 1956 <br /> <br />......
