<br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION to employ the services of the Regional
<br />Planning Commission to prepare a Master Plan for the City of Lakewood.
<br />
<br /> ~EREAS, The regional planning commission is willing to assist
<br />the Council of the City of Lakewood and its Planning Commission to make
<br />plans and maps showing the Commission's recommendations for general
<br />land uses, subdivision plamuing, zoning regulations, systems of trans-
<br />portation, highways, parks and recreational facilities, civic centers
<br />and other public improvements within the City, and
<br />
<br /> ~EREAS, The Regional Planning Commission has estimated the cost
<br />of providing the services for such plan at sixty thousand dollars, and
<br />
<br /> I~HEREAS, Council believes that aM aster Plan is necessary to
<br />guide Lakewoodta future development and redevelopment, and to assist it
<br />in determining the most appropriate uses for private land, the genera!
<br />location and extent of desirable public facilities, each in proper re
<br />lationship and each in proper scale ~ith the Cityte expected growth and
<br />financial resources, and
<br /> ~EREAS, The Regional Planning Commission is willing to assist
<br />the Council and the Cityts Planning Commission to make plans and maps
<br />showing the Regional Planning Commissionts recommendations for general
<br />land uses, subdivision planning, zoning regulations, systems of trans-
<br />portation, highways, parks and recreational facilities, civic centers
<br />and other public improvements within the City, and
<br />
<br /> ~HEREAS, This Council deems it necessary to begin work on this
<br />Master Plan at the earliest possible time for the reason that it deems
<br />the preparation of such plan necessary for the ~mmediate preservation
<br />of the public peace, property, health and safety, now, therefore,
<br />
<br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKE~OOD, STATE
<br />OF
<br />
<br /> Section 1. That the Regional Planning Commission is hereby re-
<br />quested to undertake a study and to make recommendations to the Council
<br />of the City of Lakewood, and its Planning Co~m~ ssion, to the extent and
<br />as requested from time to time bY the Council and Planning Commission
<br />of the City of Lakewood, for the general land uses, subdivision planning,
<br />zoning regulations, systems of transportation, highways, parks and rec-
<br />reational facilities, civic centers and other public improvements within
<br />the City.

<br /> Section 2. That the amount oft he contribution of the City of
<br />Lakewood heretofore made to the maintenance and operation of the Regional
<br />Planning Commission be increased for the calendar year 1957, by thirty
<br />thousand dollars, and such amount be and hereby is appropriated to the
<br />use of such Commission, to be paid monthly from the General Fund of the
<br />City to the Treasurer of Cuyahoga County, to the credit of such commis-
<br />sion when the services, or any part of them, are rendered, and a state-
<br />ment of the cost of such requested services and expenses incidental
<br />thereto is presented by the Regional Planning Commission to the Director
<br />of Finance of the City for payment.

<br /> Section 3. That the Regional Planning Commission will use its
<br />best efforts to make an effective beginning upon the work during the
<br />year 1957, it being understood, however, that the work aboVe described
<br />is of such scope and its completion will extend beyond the calendar
<br />year, and if continued will require additional contribution from the
<br />City.
