RESOL~ION NO. 3921 BY: Messrs. <br /> <br />Gaydes, ~ttermeyer, <br />Law, her, Ward, <br />Chockley, Fahrenbach, <br />Fairgrieve. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION memorializing the Congress of the United States to <br />authorize the enlarging of the channel of Rocky River to a width of <br />lOG feet and a depth ef l0 feet for a distance of approximately 4000 <br />feet southerly from the mouth ef Reeky River. <br /> <br /> EEREAS, Rocky River was dredged to a depth ef 12 feet from its <br />mouth south a distance of 300 feet south of the Reeky River Bridge, <br />in the years 1904 and 1406; and <br /> <br /> ~REAS, Over the years, the shoaling in said riverhas reduced <br />the depth te smch a~degree that it is dangerous te sail beats thereon <br />having a draft ef more than 30 inches; and <br /> <br /> EEREAS, The shallewmess ef said river net emly presents a <br />hazard te amy boats using it, but also resmlts in bringing about <br />flood conditions; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Such flood conditions are developed by the breaking up <br />of ice which ia tmrn d~ms the river, and there is net sufficient depth <br />to enable the water to float away the ice; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Such flooding conditions cause great damage te public <br />and private property; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, There is a ~reat demand for the use of such river by <br />the owners of beats in the area; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Dredging the river to the extent aforesaid would net <br />only provide much meeded additional beating facilities, but would <br />also reduce the possibility ef flood damage; now, therefore, be it <br /> <br /> RESOLVED, That this ce~mcil memorialize the Congress ef the <br />United States te appropriate sufficient f~ds for the p~rpose of en- <br />larging the channel ef Reeky River to a width ef 100 feet and a depth <br />ef lO feet, and for a distance ef approximately 4000 feet southerly <br />from the mouth ef Rocky River, and be it further <br /> <br /> RESOLVED, That the Clerk of Council transmit duly authenticated <br />copies of this resolution te Congressman William E.
