RESOLUTION N0. 395$ BY: Messrs. Lawther, Ward, <br /> Chockley, Fahrenbach, <br /> Fairgrieve,. Gaydos, <br /> Gottermeyer. <br /> A RESOLUTION commending the Honorable William R. Fairgrieve <br /> for his service as a member of the Lakewood Gity Council. <br /> WHEREAS, The Honorable 'William R. Fairgrieve became a resi» <br /> dent of our community in the year 1925, and <br /> WHEREAS, His enthusiasm and interest in the Gity of his <br /> choice, and his desire to serve the public, prompted him to seek <br /> <br /> public service, and <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Fairgrieve became a member of the Lakewood City <br /> Council in 1933 and has served as councilman in the first ward with <br /> distinction and unselfish devotion ever since, and <br /> WHEREAS,His sterling qualities of character, leadership and <br /> ability were promptly recognized by his colleagues in the Lakewood <br /> City Council, and <br /> WHEREAS, In recognition of such ability, he was elected <br /> President of Council and has served in such position from 1942 to <br /> 1951 and again from 1954 to 1955, and <br /> WHEREAS, The unselfish, devoted and loyal service of Mr. <br /> Fairgrieve, not only to constituents of Ward 1, but to the citizens <br /> of the entire City, will long be remembered, and <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Fairgrieve through sheer determination achieved <br /> one of his csbjectives in public life, to-wit, the erection, comple» <br /> tion and occupancy of a new municipal departments and administration <br /> building, and <br /> WHEREAS, His accomplishments in public office are too numer» <br /> ous to include in this resolution, but are very liberally spread <br /> throughout the minutes of the Council meetings held during his <br /> twenty-seven years of illustrious and outstanding service to the <br /> City of <br /> Lakewood, and <br /> btIHEREAS, By his devotion to duty, and by his willingness to <br /> give generously of his time to public service, the Honorable William <br /> R. Fairgrieve can serve as a shining example of loyal public service <br /> which all can emulate, and <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Fairgrieve has been a loyal, devoted husband and <br /> father, and recently a grandfather, and <br /> WHEREAS, His colleagues in Council and his multitude of <br /> friends in the administration wish him well in all his future en» <br /> deavors, now, therefore, be it <br /> RESOLVED, That in tribute and respect to the twenty-sexan:: <br /> years of continuous, illustrious and outstanding service to the City <br /> of Lakewood, and for establishing a shining example of loyal public <br /> service which all can emulate, and as an expression of the sincerity <br /> of <br /> our good wishes for continued health and happiness to the Honorable <br /> William R. Fairgrieve, and in testimony of the high esteem and af- <br /> fection in which we hold vux amiable and distinguished colleague, <br /> <br />
