RESOLUTION NO. 4035

<br />A RESOLUTION of appreciation to Mr. Edward C. Sargent.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, On March 1, 1961, Edward C. Sargent will retire from
<br />his position as Superintendent of Streets of the City of Lakewood,
<br />and,
<br />
<br /> WREREAS, Appointed by the late Mayor Edward A. Wiegand, Mr.
<br />Sargent entered upon his duties after having spent some years in
<br />the general contracting business, and,
<br />
<br /> WREREAS, Well qualified for the position which he undertook,
<br />Mr. SarSent supervised all street and sidewalk repairs and mainte-
<br />nance, was in charge of smoke abatement, the disposal plant, traffic
<br />signals and parking meter installation and repair, and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, Meticulous in the performance of his duties, Mr.
<br />Sargent was an inspiration and example to the many employees who
<br />served under him, and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, Highly respected and esteemed by all who know him, Mr.
<br />Sargent also expended his energies toward furthering the interests
<br />of the citizens of the City of Lakewood, and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, A member of the Lakewood Masonic Lodge and an ardent
<br />member of the Lakewood Presbyterian Church, Edward C. Sargent was
<br />also a member of Lakewood Elks, the National Water Pollution Control
<br />Federation, the North Eastern Water Pollution Control Conference,
<br />and the Lakewood Kiwanis Club for many years, and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, Although the debt of gratitude owed to Mr. Sargent for
<br />his long and devoted service is beyond the ability of words to de-
<br />scribe, this Council in its humble way wishes to express its thanks
<br />to him, now, therefore,
<br />
<br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE
<br />OF OHIO:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. That the Council of the City of Lakewood on behalf
<br />of the members thereof, the administration and each and every citi-
<br />zen residing within the City, hereby expresses its appreciation to
<br />Edward C. Sargent for his untiring efforts expended on behalf of us
<br />all in the duties which he so ably carried on since his appointment
<br />and further wishes him many years of happiness and prosperity in
<br />his retirement.
<br />
<br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and he hereby is re-
<br />quested and directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mr.
<br />Edward C. Sargent, 2376 Northland Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio.
<br />
<br /> Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect and be in
<br />force immediately upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor.
