RESOLUTION NO. 4359 BY: <br /> <br />Messrs. ~'ard, Wendling~ <br /> Gaydos, Huffman, <br /> Usher. <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION declaring the necessity for renewing <br /> the existing tax levy for current expenses of the City in excess of <br /> the ten mill ~mitation, which existing tax levy is at the rate of 1.2 <br /> mills on each dollar of tax valuation on the taxable property in the <br /> City of Lakewood for the reason that, the amount of taxes which may <br /> be raised within the ten mill limitation by levies on the current <br /> tax duplicate will be insufficient to continue to provide an adequate <br /> amount for the necessary requirements of the City, and that it is <br /> therefore necessary to renew said tax levy in excess of the ten mill <br /> limitation for the purpose of continuing to provide sufficient funds <br /> for the current expenses of the City. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, It is necessary to submit to the electors, at a general <br /> election to be held on the 3rd day of November, 1964, the question of <br /> a renewal of a levy for current expenses of the City, in excess of the <br /> ten mill limitation, and an emergency has arisen to provide for the <br /> immediate preservation of the public health, safety and property, and <br /> to provide for the usual daily operation of municipal departments; <br /> now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE <br /> OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1o This council hereby declares that the amount of <br /> taxes which may be raised by levies on the current tax duplicate <br /> within the City,within the ten mill limitation, the maximum rate <br /> authorized by the constitution, ARTICLE XII, Section 2 and Section <br /> 5705.02 of the Revised Code, will be insufficient to continue to pro- <br /> vide an adequate amount for the necessary requirements of the City of <br /> Lakewood, and for the purpose of continuing to provide sufficient <br /> funds for current expenses, that it is necessary to levy a tax on the <br /> current tax duplicate in said City, for a period of five years, at a <br /> rate in excess of such maximum rate authorized by the constitution <br /> and revised code section herein cited° <br /> <br /> Section 2. That it is necessary to levy a tax on the current <br /> tax duplicate for the years 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967 and 1968 at the <br /> rate for each year of 1.2 mills on each dollar of tax valuation on the <br /> taxable property in the City of Lakewood in excess of such rate auth- <br /> orized by the constitution ARTICLE XII, Section 2, and Section 5705.02 <br /> of the Revised Code. The question of such tax levy shall be submitted <br /> to the electors at a general election to be held in the City, at the <br /> designated voting places, on November 3, 1964. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That the Clerk be and she is hereby directed to <br /> certify a copy of this resolution to the Board of Elections of Cuyahoga <br /> County, Ohio, in order that said Board of Elections may make the <br /> necessary arrangements for the submission of such question to the <br /> electors of said City as provided by law. <br /> Sec%ion 4o Notice of such election shall be published as re- <br />quired by law. <br /> <br /> Section 5. This resolution iS hereby declared to be an emergency <br /> measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and, provided it <br /> receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to <br /> Council, it shan,t take effect and be in force immediately upon its <br /> adoption and approval by the Mayor. <br /> <br /> Septem~er'8~"~96~' ' ...
