REAS, A request has been mede to this Council that the <br />statutory vehicular speed limit established by Section 4511.21 of the Ohio <br />Revised Code is greater than that considered reasonable and safe on Athen~ <br />Avenue fro~H~lstead Avenue to Carabel Avenue in the City of Lakewoods <br />and, <br /> <br /> W~EREAS, This Council has caused to be made an engineering and <br />traffic investigation upon Athens Avenue, and <br /> <br /> W~EREAS, It is the belief of this Council that such investi§a- <br />tion confirms the allegation that the statutory speed, limit of 35 mph is <br />unrealistic, and, <br /> <br /> W}~KEAS, This resolution constitutes an emer§ency measure for <br />the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and <br />for the usual daily operation of a municipal department, now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IAI~EWOOD, STATE <br />OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. By virtue of the provisions of Section 4511.21 of <br />the Ohio Revised Code, the Director of Highways is hereby requested to <br />review the engineering and traffic investigation and to determine and <br />declare a reasenable and safe ,~!m~-f~i~ apeed limit, towit: twenty- <br />five (25) miles per hour on Athens Avenue between Halstead Avenue and <br />Carabel Avenue in the City of Lakewood, Ohio. <br /> <br /> Section 2.. That after this Council is advised that the Director <br />of Highways has determined and declared a reasonable and safe speed limit <br />on Athens Avenue, that standard signs, properly posted'~nd giving notice <br />thereof, will be erected. <br /> <br /> Section 3.
