RESOLUTION NO. 4563 BY: Messrs. Huffman, Kelley, Usher, <br /> Ward, Wendling, Cain, Gaydos <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to cormmend Mahlou A. Povenmire for his 41 years of <br />devotion to public education and for his 20 years of leadership and service <br />to this co~munity as Principal of Lakewood High School. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, before coming to Lakewood, Mahlon Povenmire was a teacher <br />of Latin, mathematics and social science and served as Principal of Galion <br />Junior High School and Coahgcton High School, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, he received his Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees at <br />The Ohio State University and has continued his studies at Kent State <br />University, Ohio University, Columbia University and Western Reserve <br />University, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, since becoming Principal of Lakewood High School, he has <br />seen the enrollment grow from 1,750 to 2,375 students, while staff members <br />have increased in number from 75 to 116, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the facilities of Lakewood High School have been altered to <br />include a Civic Auditorium, the L-Room Student Center, and a new gymnasium <br />and cafeteria, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, during his 20 years in Lakew0od, Mahlon Povenmire has won <br />~he respect and affection of students, faculty and general public through his <br />devotion to the ideals of public education and by the manner in which he has <br />implemented these ideals in this community, and <br /> <br /> W~EREAS, such dedication to developing the abilities of young people <br />in the City of Lakewood should be recognized in a proper and fitting manner; <br />now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That Lakewood City Council extends to Mahlon A. Povenmire <br />its appreciation and that of all the citizens of this community for his great <br />service to us, and further that this Council wishes him continued years of <br />health, prosperity and satisfaction. <br /> <br /> Section 2.
