RESOLUTIO~ <br /> <br />BY: Messrs. Gaydos, Huffman, <br /> Usher, Mard, Wendling, Cain <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTIONcommeuding the studeufS of Lekewood High School, <br />Hsrding Junior High $chool~Emerson Junior High School and Horace Mann Junior <br />High School for their participation iR and the winning of the WIXY School <br />Spirit Contest with a total o~ 4,223,952 votes; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the students of these schools gave up much of their free <br />time after school and during their lunch hours to sign these petitions, and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, they had stiff competition from thirty-two other schools, <br />and were ahead of second place winner, St. Joseph High School, by 784,864 <br />votes, and, <br /> <br /> ~q{EREAS, Lakewood's prizes were a Home Entertainment Center for <br />Lakewood High School and one for Principal Mahlon A. Poveumire, assembly <br />on May 4, 1967 with WIXY Superman speaking on the "Importance of Education <br />in our Time", a dance with top recording stars, and $100.00 worth of record <br />albums, now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br />0HIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That Lakewood City Council extends to Lakewood High <br />School, Harding Junior High School, Emerson Junior High School and Horace <br />Mann Junior High School, its appreciation and congratulations and that of <br />all the citizens of this community for their interest in education, and <br />their exceptional school spirit. <br /> <br /> Section 2.
