Gaydos, Huffman, Kelley <br />RESOLUTION NO. 4598 BY: Messrs. Usher, Ward, Wendling, <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION expressing the views of the Council with regard to residence <br />opportunities within the City. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood is and since its inception has been the finest <br />residential community within Cuyahoga County as a result of the efforts and <br />financial support of its citizens, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council has had submitted to it a form resolution concerning <br />housing opportunities within the City of Lakewood and interested citizens <br />have requested a legislative response to this resolution; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood has consistently offered the municipal services <br />and advantages of the City to all residents of the community without regard <br />or concern for the race, creed, color, religion or natural origin of the <br />citizens involved; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, all public officials of the City are sworn to uphold the Constitutions <br />of the United States and the State of Ohio, as well as the Statutes of the <br />State of Ohio and the Ordinances of the City of Lakewood and will, in accordance <br />with that oath, continue to do so to the best of their ability; and <br /> <br />WHEREAs, as public officials we individually recognize and subscribe to the <br />right of every person to live where he wishes and can afford, as well as <br />the corresponding right of every person to dispose of his property an <br />accordance with his individual principles and wishes; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE ET RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the City of Lakewood will continue to offer to all citizens <br />of the community, without regard, concern or knowledge of their race, creed, <br />color, religion or national origin, all municipal services and advantages <br />of the City in accordance with the oath of office of each and every public <br />official. <br /> <br />Section 2. This resolution shall be in full force and take effect immed- <br />iately upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor and at the earliest period <br />allowed by law. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />January 2, 1968 <br /> <br />RvL~L E.
