RESOLUTION NO. 4643 <br /> <br />BY: Messrs. Usher, Ward, Wendling, <br /> Gaydos, Graber, Huffman, Kelley <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION expressing the sympathy of the Council and the <br />Administration of the City of Lakewood to be family of the late <br />Mike A. Mikitis~ Sgt. U.SoM.C. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The Council of the City of Lakewood desires to honor <br />the memory of our brave young men serving in Vietnam who have unselfishly <br />sacrificed their lives for the freedom of mankind, and whose passing <br />should not go unnoticed by the residents of our community, and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the parents of Mike A. Mikitis are residents of the <br />City of Lakewood; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mike A. Mikitis was born in Latvia and moved here with <br />his parents in 1949, where he attended evening classes at West Tech before <br />enlisting in the Marine Corps in 1951; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mike A. Mikitis was killed in action February 1, 1968 <br />in fighting at Quang Tri during his second tour of duty in Vietnam; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mike A. Mikttis was a loyal and patriotic young man who <br />chose to serve his country during wartime, and deserves our gratitude <br />and respect for making the ultimate sacrifice; now, therefore: <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD~ STATE OF <br />0HIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this entire Council and the Administration honors <br />the memory of Mike Ao Mikitis~ and extends deepest sympathy to his parents, <br />Mr, and Mrs. George Mikitis, 1652 St. Charles Avenue, and to his wife and <br />three children, who reside in North Carolina. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized <br />and directed to present a certified copy of this resolution to the family <br />of Mike A. Mikitis~ and that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the <br />minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br />Adopted: _June 17. 1968 <br /> <br />__ Robert ~..
