RESOLUTION MO. 4644 <br /> <br />BY: Messrs. Kelley, Usher, Ward~ <br /> Wendling, Gaydos, Graber, Huffman <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION expressing the sympathy of the Council and the <br />Administration of the City of Lakewood to the family of the late <br />James P. Byrne, Sgto, U.S.M.C. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The Council of the City of Lakewood desires to honor the <br />memory of our brave young men serving in Vietnam who have unselfishly <br />sacrificed their lives for the freedom of mankind, and whose passing should <br />not go unnoticed by the residents of our community; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the parents of James P. Byrne are residents of the <br />City of Lakewood; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, James P. Byrne was a 1963 graduate of St. Mary High <br />School where he was president of the school's journalism club, layout <br />editor of the school year book, and a member of the Pep Club, Drama Club, <br />and Latin Honor Society; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, during his sophomore and junior years of high sctiool, <br />James P. Byrne was president of the Catholic Youth Organization of Saint <br />Theresa Church where he also served as an altar boy; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, James P. Byrne enlisted in the P~rine Corps in 1963 <br />and was promoted to the rank of sergeant; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, James P. Byrne volunteered for duty in Vietnam and <br />died March 8, 1968 at the age of 22 of wounds received in action at <br />Quant Tri, just five days after his arrival, now, therefore: <br /> <br />OHIO: <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this entire Council and the Administration honors <br />the memory of James P. Byrne, and extends deepest sympathy to his parents <br />Mr. and Mrs. James T. Byrne of 1335 Webb Road and his brothers and sister. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby auth- <br />orized and directed to present a certified copy of this resolution to the <br />family of James P. Byrne, and that a copy of this resolution be spread <br />upon the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br />Adopted: lune 17, 1968 <br /> <br />Robert E.
