(',ralmr, Ilu[fnlan, Usher, Nard, Wend]trig, Caydos AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION declaring that a state of cmergcncy cx~.sts Jn the City of Lakewood, Ohio, arrsrng out' efa majur disaster and ef such severity and magnitude as to warraut disaster assistance by the Federal WllEREAS, an emergency exists in that the City of Lakewood has been struck by a violent storm causing two deaths and destroyrng much property, and is of such severity and magnitude as to warrant disaster assistance by thc Federal Government. ~tEREAS, this resolution is necessary for the ~mmediate preservation of of public peace, property, health and safety and provides for the opera- tion of municipal departments, now, therefore, BE IT KESOLVED BY TIlE COUNCIL OF TItE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF 0Ili0: Section 1. That a state of emergency exists in the City of Lakewood, Ohzo, arising out a major disaster and of such severzty and magnitude as to warrant disaster assistance by the Federal Government. Section 2. That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorzzed to transmit an authenticated copy of this resolution to the Honorable James A. ~odes, Governor of Ohio; that the Governor be requested to direct an appeal to the Honorable Richard M. Nixon, President of the United States for federal aid funds to be used for the alleviation of the ravages of such major disaster which struck the City of Lakewood on July 4, 1969. Section 3. That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized to take all such steps as shall be necessary to obtain federal aid funds for the purposes of reconstructing and rehabilitating the areas affected by such storm. Section 4. That this resolution ~s hereby declared to he an emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof, and provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall take effect immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. / [:~<.r',~-~.~-'~ Clerl~/ Mayor
