RESOLUTION NO. 4769 <br /> <br />BY: Messrs. Gaydos, Graber, Huffman, <br /> Kelley, Usher, Ward, Wendling <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION expressing the sympathy of the Council and the <br />Administration of the City of Lakewood to the family of the <br />late Andrew C. McCartney, Airman I. C., U. S. Air Force. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Lakewood desires to honor <br />the memory of our brave young men serving overseas who have <br />unselfishly sacrificed their lives for the freedom of mankind, <br />and whose passing should not go unnoticed by the residents of <br />our community, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the parents of Andrew Co McCartney are residents of <br />the City of Lakewood, and, <br /> <br />k~HEREAS, Andrew C. McCartney was graduated from Lakewood <br />High School in 1967 and attended Ohio Northern University, <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEI{EAS, Andrew C. McCartney was sent to Thailand in February <br />1970 where he was a radio and television technician at Udorn <br />Air Force Base and was killed when a disabled reconnaissance <br />aircraft struck a radio shack and barracks building on April 10, <br />1970, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Andrew C. McCartney was a loyal and patriotic young <br />man who willingly served his country during wartime and deserves <br />our gratitude and respect for making the ultimate sacrifice; <br />now, therefore: <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE <br />OF OHIO: <br /> <br />Section 1. That thi~ entire Council and the Administration <br />honor the memory of Andrew C. McCartney, and extend deepest <br />sympathy to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. McCartney, <br />1560 Arthur Avenue, and to his sister, Mrs. John Clover, of <br />Lebanon, New Hampshire. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby <br />authorized and directed to present a certified copy of this <br />resolution to the family of ~-ndrew C. McCartney, and~ that a <br />copy of this resolution be spread upon the minutes of this <br />meeting. <br /> <br />President <br />Clerk ~ <br />~ayor <br /> <br /> <br />
