RESOLUTION NO. 4770 <br /> <br />BY: Messrs. Graber, Huffman, Kelley, <br /> Usher, Ward, Wendling, Gsydos <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION expressing the sympathy of the Council and the <br />Administration of the City of Lakewood to the family of the <br />late Jeffrey A. Freeman, Sergeant, U. S. Army. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Lakewood desires to honor <br />the memory of our brave young men serving in Vietnam who have <br />unselfishly sacrificed their lives for the freedom of mankind, <br />and whose passing should not go unnoticed by the residents of <br />our community, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the parents of Jeffrey A. Freeman are residents of <br />the City of Lakewood', and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Jeffrey A. Freeman was graduated from Lakewood High <br />School in 1963 and received a degree in political science <br />and prelaw from Miami University in 1967, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Jeffrey A. Freeman was sent to Vietnam in September <br />1969 where he was a platoon sergeant with the Reconnaissance <br />Platoon of the 35th Infantry Regiment's 2nd Battalion and was <br />killed while on a reconnaissance mission near An Khe on <br />April 8, 1970, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Jeffrey A. Freeman was a loyal and patriotic young <br />man who willingly served his country during wartime and deserves <br />our gratitude and respect for making the ultimate sacrifice; <br />now, therefore: <br /> <br />BET IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE <br />OF OHIO: <br /> <br />Section 1. That this entire Council and the Administration <br />honor the memory of Jeffrey A. Freeman, and extend deepest <br />sympathy to his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Leonard X. Freeman, <br />17401 Edgewater Drive, to his wife, Mary Ellen Freeman, to <br />his daughter, Kate Freeman, and to his sister, Sally Ruth <br />Freeman. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby <br />authorized and directed to present a certified copy of this <br />resolution to the family of Jeffrey A. Freeman, and that a <br />copy of this resolution be spread upon the minutes of this <br />meeting. <br /> <br />^pproved: <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
