<br />A RESOLUTION expressing the sympathy of the Council and the Administration
<br />of the City of Lakewood co the family of the la~e John C. Hunter, First
<br />Lieutenant, U. S. Army.
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, The Council of the City of Lakewood desires to honor the memory of
<br />our brave young men serving in South East Asia who have unselfishly sacrificed
<br />their lives for the freedom of mankind, and whose passing should not go
<br />unnoticed by the residents of our community, and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the parents of John C. Hunter are residents of the City of Lakewood,
<br />and,
<br />
<br />I~HEREAS, John C. Hunter was graduated from Lakewood High School, where he wes
<br />known for his popularity, capable leadership, outstanding student citizenship
<br />aud constant deaire for challenging courses, and,
<br />
<br />~qtlEREAS, While attending Lakewood High School John C. Hunter was a member of
<br />the Hi-Y group, Co-Captain of the Swimming Team and Vice President of the
<br />Senior Class, and,
<br />
<br />~THEREAS, John C. Hunter attended Ohio University before entering the Army in
<br />April of 1968, and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant on March 6, 1969,
<br />having successfully completed Officer's Candidate School at Fort Rucker,
<br />Alabama, and,
<br />
<br />~/REREAS, John C. Hunter was stationed in Vietnam as of May 14, 1970 with the
<br />First Air Cavalry Division and later attained the rating of Command Pilot, and,
<br />
<br />~/HEREAS, John C. Hunter was killed on February 20, 1971 when his craft was shot
<br />down by enemy groundfire while on a combat mission, and,
<br />
<br />I~HEREAS, John C. Hunter was a loyal and patriotic young man who chose to serve
<br />his country during wartzme, and deserves our gratitude and respect fo~ making
<br />the ultimate sacrifice; now, therefore,
<br />
<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEW00D, STATE OF OHIO:
<br />
<br />~ection 1. That this entire Council and the Administration honor the memory
<br />of John C. Hunter, and extend deepest sympathy to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
<br />-Ralph C. Hunter, and to his sisters, Martha and Kathy, residing at
<br /> 15555 Hilliard Blvd.
<br />
<br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed
<br />to present a certified copy of this resolution to the family of John C. Hunter,
<br />and that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting.
