RESOLUTION NO. 4828 <br /> <br />BY: Messrs. Gaydos, Graber, Huffman,. <br /> Kelley, Usher, Ward, Wendling <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION expressing the opposition of the Council of the <br />City of Lakewood for and on behalf of the citizens of Lakewood, Ohio to <br />the closing of the Lakewood Academic Center at Lakewood High School by <br />Cleveland State University. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of Cleveland State University <br />has voted to terminate the operation of its academic centers including <br />the Lakewood Academic Center at Lakewood High School upon the completion <br />of the spring quarter 1971, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the termination of this facility will create an ex- <br />eessive inconvenience and hardship for the many students residing in <br />Lakewood and its surrounding communities now attending the Lakewood <br />Academic Center, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Lakewood Academic Center, since its inception, <br />has provided substantial benefit to the City of Lakewood and its surround- <br />ing communities in that said facility has,made it possible and convenient <br />for citizens of this area to further their education and academic pursuits, <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Lakewood Academic Center enhances the prestige <br />and academic standing of this community, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is the wish and desire of th±s Council to do all <br />in its power to prevent the closing of this local center of advanced <br />learning, now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE <br />OF 0Hi0: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Council of the City of Lakewood, for and <br />on behalf of the citizens of Lakewood, Ohio, strongly opposes the closing <br />of the Lakewood Academic Center at LRkewood High School by Cleveland State <br />University. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby <br />authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution <br />to the Governor of the State of Ohio, John J. Gilligan, The Board of <br />Trustees of Cleveland State University, and John D.
