RESOLUTION NO. 4889 <br /> <br />BY: Messrs. Bro~kman, Ke:Iley, <br /> Magnotto.~ McBride, Usher <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to commend Alex S. Barany for his forty-one years of devoted <br />public service including twenty-six years of service as the Clerk of the Lakewood <br />Municipal Court. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Alex S. Barany commenced his career as a public servant in 1931 <br />with the State of Ohio, Department of Highways, and was appointed a Deputy Clerk of <br />the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court in January, 1933, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, from March 19, 1944 to Apri!, 1946 he served his country honorably <br />and with distinction as a member of the Signal Corps of the United States Army, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Alex S. Barany was appointed to the position of Clerk of the <br />Lakewood Municipal Court by the late Judge A. A. Stephens on June 1, 1946, and in <br />which capacity he has rendered outstanding service to the Court and to the City of <br />Lakewood, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, through the years he has won the respect and affection of ~is <br />colleagues throughout the State of Ohio as evidenced by his frequent appointment to <br />the many committees periodically established to promote increased efficiency in <br />civil, criminal and court procedures, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Alex S. Barany is a charter member of the Ohio Association of <br />Municipal Court Clerks, in which organization he served as Secretary-Treasurer for <br />three years and President 1963-1964, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in 1965 Alex S. Barany was named by the Ohio Association of <br />Municipal Court Clerks as the outstanding Clerk of Courts in the State of Ohio, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, he was instrumental in the organization of The Northeast Ohio <br />Municipal Court Clerks and Deputies Association and served as its first President, <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Alex S. Barany has not only been an outstanding and inspiring <br />leader in his chosen profession but has also been active in community and church <br />affairs, being a lifetime member of the Russian Orthodox Church, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, such dedication to duty and years of public service should be <br />recognized in a proper and fitting manner, now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Lakewood City Council extends to Alex S. Barany upon his <br />retirement its appreciation and the appreciation of all of the citizens of this <br />commur~ty for his forty-one years of devoted public service and in particular his <br />twenty-six years of outstanding service as the Clerk of the Lakewood Municipal <br />Court and further that this Council wi%hes him continued years of service, success, <br />health and prosperity. <br /> <br /> Section 2o That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized andi <br />directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to Alex S.
