RESOLUTION NO. 4957 BY: Messrs. Usher, Werner, <br /> Graber, Magnotto, McBride, <br /> Sinagra <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION urging the appropriate elected representatives <br />to the Congress of the United States to provide immediate Federal assista~eto <br />those citizens of the City of Lakewood, Ohio suffering damage to their property <br />caused by Lake Erie. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the level of Lake Erie is presently higher than it has been <br />for many years, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, such extraordinary high level is one of the primary causes <br />of severe and extensive damage suffered by the citizens of Lakewood, Ohio who <br />own property adjacent to Lake Erie, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is appropriate under the circumstances that some form <br />of Federal assistance be immediately granted to such property owners, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Lakewood, Ohio desir~ to <br />evidence its deep concern to the appropriate elected representatives to the <br />Congress of the United States, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council desires to express to the appropriate elected <br />representatives to the Congress of the United States its deep concern for the <br />citizens of the City of Lakewood whose property has been and is being damaged by <br />Lake Erie and to urge immediate action to provide Federal assistance to such <br />citizens, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this resolution constitutes an emergency measure in that <br />immediate Federal assistance is needed by the owners of property adjacent to <br />Lake Erie to prevent further damage thereto, now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF~THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Council of the City of Lakewood for and on behalf <br />of the citizens of the City of. Lakewood owning property adjacent to Lake Erie <br />strongly urges the representatives to the Congress of the United States to enact <br />appropriate legislation and/or to expedite pending legislation to provide some <br />form of Federal assistance to those property owners suffering damage caused by <br />the action of Lake Erie. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized <br />and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to United States <br />Senator William B. Saxbe, United States Senator Robert Taft, Jr. and to United <br />States Representative William Minshall. <br /> <br /> Section 3.
