RESOLUTION NO. 4979 BY: Messrs. McBride, Sinagra, Werner, <br /> -~ Brockman, Graber, Magnotto, Usher <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to commend Chief Byron C.Cook and the members <br />of the Lakewood Fire Department for their contribution to the honor of <br />having the City of Lakewood, Ohio designated the safest city in America. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Esquire Magazine in its December 1973 issue published <br />the results of a crime rate survey which showed that the City of Lakewood, <br />Ohio is the safest city in America, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, as noted in the aforementioned survey, the City of <br />Lakewood has earned thirteen national awards as the "fire-safest" city <br />among cities in the 50,000 to 100,000 population category, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the publication of such article has bestowed upon the <br />City of Lakewood significant honor and deserved national recognition, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, such enviable distinction is, to a substantial degree, <br />the result of strong, efficient leadership of Chief Cook and the dedication <br />to duty of the members of the Lakewood Fire Department, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the contributions of Chief Cook and the members of the <br />Lakewood Fire Department should be recognized in a proper and fitting <br />manner; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br /> SectiOn 1. That Lakewood City Council extends to Chief Byron C. Cook <br />and(the members of the Lakewood Fire Department its appreciation and that of <br />all the citizens of this community for their contribution to the honor of having <br />the City of Lakewood, Ohio designated the safest city in America. <br /> <br /> Section 2.
