RESOLUTION NO. 5015 BY: Messrs. Magnotto, Mcbride, Sinagra~ Usher, Brockman, Chinnock, Graber AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION declaring the necessity for renewing the existing tax levy for current expenses of the City in excess of the ten mill limitation, which existing tax levy is at the rate of 1.2 mills on each dollar of tax valuation on the taxable property in the City of Lakewood for the reason that the amount of taxes which may be raised within the ten mill limitation by levies on the current tax duplicate will be insufficient to continue to p~ovide an adequate amount for the necessary requirements of the City, and that it is therefore necessary to renew ~said tax levy in excess of the ten mill limitation for the purpose of continuing to provide sufficient funds for the curranC expens~ of the City. WHEREAs, It is necessary to submit to the electors, at a general eleetJ to be held on the 5th day of November, 1974, the question of a renewal of a levy for current expenses of the City, in excess of the ten mill limitation, and an emergency has arisen to provide for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and municipal d property, and to provide for the usual daily operation of apartments; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CODNCII OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHI0. Section 1. This Council hereby declares that the amount of taxes Which may be raised by levies on the current tax duplicate within the City, within the ten mill limitation, the maximum rate authorized by Article XII, Section 2 of the Ohio Constitution and Section ~705.02 of the Ohio Revised Code, will be insuffici~ no continue to provide an adequate amount for the necessary requirements of the City of Lakewood, end for the purpose of continuing =o provide sufficient funds fc current expenses, that it is necessary uo levy a usx on the currenn tax duplicate in said City, for m period of five years, an a rate in excess of such maximum rate authorized by the Ohio Constitution and the Ohio Revised Code section herein cited Section 2.
