RESOLUTION NO. 5023 <br /> <br />BY: Messrs. Chinnock, Magnottc, McBride~ <br /> Si~agra~ Usher, Brockman <br /> <br /> A MEMORIAL RESOLUTION in honor and memory of the Late ~eo=ge S. <br />Voinovich who passed away on the 24th day of September, 1974. <br /> <br /> ~HEREAS, ]eorge S. Voinovich, after graduating*from Carnegie-Mellon <br />University became a distinguished and noted architect and the founder of the <br />George S. Voinovich, Inc. architectural firm which was established by him in <br />1937, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, George S Voinovich designed many public buildings in the <br />State of Ohio and City of Lakewood and was well known as an expert in the field <br />of urban planning and development, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, George S. Voinovich, although President of the architectural <br />firm bearing his name. devoted much of his time to various business, social, <br />church and conm~unity activities and among ~ther things was pasn Presidenn pf the <br />Architects Society of Ohio and the Ohio Bosrd of Examiners, was a member of the <br />Bratenahl City Council for the three years prior to his death, was a member an <br />large of the Greater Cleveland C~uncil of the Boy Scouts of America, was a <br />Trustee of the YMCA and United Torch Services, was past Treasurer of the Lake <br />Erie Girl Scouts Council, was former Secretary of the Urban League of Cleveland <br />and was past Presidenn of the Builders Exchange, Inc., and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, George S. Voinovich earned the admiration and respect of all <br />those who came in contact with him, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, such devotion and dedication should be recognized and <br />memorialized in a proper and fitting manner; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COb~CIL OF T~RE CITY OF I~KEWOOD~ STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That Lakewood City Council extends to the family of <br />George S. Voinovich its deepest sympathy and its appreciation and gratit~zde for <br />many years of outstanding service to the community. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of C~uncil be~ and she is hereby authorized <br />and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Mrs. George S. <br />Voinovich, 291 Corning Drive, Bratenahl, Ohio, and that a copM of this Resolution <br />be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br /> Clerk ~ <br /> / / ~r <br /> <br /> <br />
